This is important to understand for development of children because allowing them to explore the environment through movement builds upon this map and allows them to learn about the world around them. Letting kids move freely in space and experience the world around them is going to teach them more about movement than any parent or coach will ever be able to teach them. Restricting movement for a kid is essentially placing a hold on their development, motorically & cognitively.
Every input & experience that a child goes through will build upon the map & elicit a response from or inhibit different parts of the brain that will direct their future experiences. Allow them to build their own map & learn through experience
